Horse racing & greyhounds
A race is over in minutes, so in-play betting on racing is mostly a matter of prices before the off, and the terms that fix the payout need knowing first.
Starting price and ante-post are the price terms, non-runners and Rule 4 the adjustments. Going each-way means staking twice, on a horse to win and on the same horse to be placed, which doubles the total stake. Tips for horses and greyhounds belong here too.
Remote betting pays General Betting Duty at 15% now and at 25% from 1 April 2027; remote bets on UK horse racing are the exception and keep the 15% rate, while pool betting is treated apart.
